About Kaler Kantho
Kaler Kantho arrived two months before its stablemate Bangladesh Pratidin and took the opposite editorial line: a conventional broadsheet aimed at readers who wanted long political reporting, business coverage and a substantial literary supplement rather than a tabloid front page.
Its district network is one of the more extensive in the Bengali press, and the paper carries a noticeably higher proportion of datelined reporting from outside Dhaka than most of its rivals. The daily supplements — on youth, agriculture, technology and religion — run to a fixed weekly rota rather than being filled ad hoc.
